The drive to Lions Bay from Vancouver is 31 km and takes from 30 minutes to much longer depending on the traffic.  Access to Highway 99 takes you through Vancouver’s downtown.  You can take transit, but it leaves you with an extra 1.6 km to the Tunnel Bluffs trailhead.  However, there’s limited parking at the trailhead.  Regular travellers to this trail recommend avoiding weekends due to it being busy. On August 20th my brother and I went on a “sibling date” to Science World. We live in Vancouver and had been before, but the exhibits had been modified since our last visit, so we decided to give it a go. The Telus World of Science opens at 10:00 AM, we arrived at 10:30 AM. There was already a fairly long line for tickets, and it looked from the outside as if many people were visiting the exhibits already. The Museum of Vancouver (MOV) is located in Vancouver‘s Kitsilano neighbourhood at 1100 Chestnut St with its staple crap sculpture and fountain out front. The building connects two museums the MOV and the H. R. McMillan Space Center. They are separate museums and have separate entry fees. During spring break my brother and I visited the Museum of Vancouver and it was a lovely trip. We live in Kitsilano, so getting to the museum was not a challenge. The Vancouver Aquarium is in Stanley Park located at 845 Avison Way. My brother and I (my brother is nine) went for a visit during March break for a little day to ourselves. We arrived by bus from Vancouver‘s Kitsilano neighbourhood, and it took two busses and about forty minutes to get there. Both bus rides were mediocre, not much walking time in between, however there was a ten-minute wait for the second bus. Which isn’t that long, but in the cold and rain of the day it felt longer. In Coombs BC, there is a small little Dutch Imports store right off Highway 4. They are a bright orange and hard to miss, they have everything from Dutch food to little Dutch dish towels. When you walk in the first thing you see is the aisle of Dutch candies, with their specialized licorice. They also carry a variety of other foods, meat, cheese and treats such as Dutch honey cake and speculaas cookies. The service is helpful and friendly, no complaints there. On the last day before school started up again, my friends and I decided that to get out all of our nervous energy we were going to go play laser tag. Now, all of us live in Vancouver and the closest place is in Richmond, it’s called Planet Lazer. To get there we collectively took transit which took a bus, a sky train and then two other buses. Now, the place in Richmond is a large plot of land with several big recreation activity buildings you can try. They have swimming, trampolines, a movie theater and of course, laser tag. […]

In Parksville on Resort drive is Riptide Lagoon Adventure Golf, with two mini golf courses that easily serve tourists who stay at the resorts. This summer I stayed with my family at Ocean Trails Resort, one of the places on Resort Drive for about the fifth time in a row. Due to the fact we’ve been staying so long the mini golf has worked its way into becoming a family tradition. Lefty’s is a yummy restaurant in Parksville, B.C. Their menu has many choices with a lot variety, as it is not a “we-only-have-one-focus-that-we-take-way-out-of-proportion” restaurant. Lefty’s has everything from pastas to burritos, literally, when I visited I had a burrito. When I went it was at an odd time, before dinner but after lunch so there were very few people in the restaurant. The waitress came right away with menus and drink orders (I had a Shirley Temple) so no complaints there. In Victoria, in the Oak Bay neighbhourhood, there is a sushi restaurant called “Bon Sushi” on 1467 Hampshire Rd. I went for dinner with a few people and I have to say I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was one of those really hot summer days where nobody wants to cook so the restaurant was very full. However, we managed to get a table outside in a small amount of time which was very nice. Oak Bay in Victoria is a beautiful place with lots of lovely water views. There are many small parks along the vista, one of them being Queens Park. It is a small viewpoint with a piece of public artwork, a series of wolves and a deer made out of metal. And, although that was fun to look at, my favorite part of the park is it’s old swing.
