Vancouver Area Shopping Malls
Living in the West End means you can easily live without a vehicle. I should know, my family has existed without one for more than ten years. We brought a car with us when we first moved to Vancouver, and for our first couple of years living in Kitsilano. We gradually realized that we were not using our car nearly enough to warrant the expense, and that we could easily live without one. One of the most challenging aspects of life without a car can be getting to the big box stores when you need to. I am not a […]
Lighthouse Park – Adventure in West Vancouver
Isn’t it great that we live in a city with so many little adventures close by? I’ve found another gem that even many locals don’t know exist – and it’s right in your backdoor. A short drive to West Vancouver. takes you to a little early history of Vancouver : Lighthouse Park. To get to the trailhead – follow Marine Drive in West Vancouver. for about 9+ km – this drive alone will get your drooling (the view is about the BEST in the WORLD – as far as I’m concerned) go past Caulfield Cove and watch for the small […]
Lighthouse Park
The Lighthouse at on Point Atkinson was built in 1874 and its preservation left us a legacy of trails that take you to a spectacular view of the Strait of Georgia and Howe Sound. As you take the marked circular route, watch for some of the largest Douglas Firs in the Lower Mainland and, of course, the lighthouse itself. If you walk past the lighthouse, you will encounter very rocky terrain which, with care, will lead you to the ocean and its views. Lighthouse Park is off Marine Drive in the western part of West Vancouver. Look for the small […]
SnowShoeing North Shore
If you’ve been craving activity – and the winter’s day is too short for you to get out during the few hours on sunlight we’ve been getting lately – it’s time to make Mother Nature work for you. Vancouver’s local mountains offer snowboarding and skiing, but I have some fun Winter Fun ideas for you. Since 2007 Outside Magazine rates the “hottest new sport” as snowshoeing. When I was a little girl living in Switzerland we used to have to hike through deep snow on our property wearing the big old style “Trappers” snowshoes. They were awkward and took a […]
