Abigail’s Party Kitsilano

In a rare bit of indulgence, my wife and I went out to dinner. Significant anniversary aside, it was a rare confluence of conditions that allowed us to enjoy our own neighbourhood of Kitsilano.
Abigail’s Party is on Yew Street only a couple of blocks from Kits Beach Park. It’s a great spot to take a sweetheart because on a nice evening you can go for a walk and enjoy the glorious view from Kits Beach. Furthermore, on warmer evenings there’s a great amount of people watching you can do. Those who enjoy Kits Beach are wonderfully varied and colourful.
But, back to the food. On Yew Street there are a number of restaurants from Sushi to Burmese to pubby stuff. We picked Abigail’s Party because of the ones on the street, they had a vegetarian option, specifically Wild Mushroom Pappardelle ($14). It was enjoyed greatly by a woman who’s really tired of the veggie burger and fries routine. I enjoyed a Braised Shortrib ($20) which was actually a bison dish, which was also good.
I almost forgot; the Wicca vodka martini was recommended and their wine list was not cheap but at least it wasn’t boring! I did like the cheap(er) by the glass Portuguese red.
The atmosphere is really aimed at 20s to 30s folks, but we older types were sharing the space with even more older types and it was indeed a party atmosphere. For those wanting to watch the world go by, they do have outdoor seating. We frankly preferred the hiding away from it all feeling.
